Children’s Book Updates

A little fun book news. The Three Armadillies Tuff was just released in Korea. Here is the cover in Korean.

Also, The Ring Bear is up at Lookybook.com. Click on the cover and the book opens up. It’s a bit too small to read here, but if you click on the eyeballs you’ll go to their website and a slightly larger version.

Here’s a direct link in case the embedded version doesn’t work in your browser.

I hope to get back to some writing after the show in May. Lots of stories have been swirling around in my head for some time, and I’d like to get them out.

Going Out Gurus – A Year in Art

Julia from the Going Out Gurus posted a list of her favorite art shows of the last year. Great to see Tug of War, Art in Heat and Art Whino all on her list…

“The Controller” by SHAG (a.k.a. Josh Agle) was on view at Hemphill Fine Arts in March.

Tug of War” at Hemphill and “Art in Heat” at the Warehouse. I was glad to see a number of lowbrow/pop-surrealist shows on local gallery dockets this year. Even though the technique in most of the pieces on view was top notch, this brand of sometimes-cartoony art doesn’t take itself too seriously and that’s kind of refreshing when you go out for a night of art viewing. We have a great stable of locals who produce this kind of work, and it was great to see their pieces represented in the Warehouse show. Many of those same artists’ names are now on the walls at Alexandria’s newish Art Whino gallery.
